Olympos Mons (band)

Olympos Mons was a Finnish power metal band that was formed in 2002 by guitarist Jari Sundström and singer Ian E. High Hill.

History

The passion for melodic and symphonic metal brought the two to form their own band in order to fully develop their creativity can. Both musicians had already gained experience in other bands. Jari felt equally in the world of classical music and Rocks and Metals at home. To play his compositions and his aggressive style of guitar made ​​him popular in the local scene. Ian, however, was known as an author of dark romantic lyrics.

Their first demo Seven Seas was published in August 2002 and showed the musical direction of Olympos Mons on clear. The mix of stringed instruments, bagpipes and harps served as the basis for versatile metal songs. The demo caught the attention of several record companies. For this reason, new musicians were sought to complete the line-up. Drummer Mikko Sepponen and session keyboardist Vili Ollila joined the band.

Then their debut album Conquistador at Limb Music Productions was released in autumn 2004. The reviews were mostly positive and the album sold in the first two months, several thousand times.

The end of 2005 came Krister Lundell to the band, since Olympos Mons at that time did not have a bass player.

In July 2006, their second album Medievil was published. Due to musical differences Olympos Mons changed in February 2007 on the Italian label Scarlet Records.
