OMA Instant Messaging and Presence Service
An Instant Messaging and Presence Service ( IMPS ) is an instant messaging service, which is primarily designed for mobile devices. It is a further development of the Wireless Village protocol, which by the Open Mobile Alliance ( OMA) is specified.
IMPS is based on XML, which is compressed with WAP Binary XML to approximately one tenth of the transfer size. The current version is 1.3.
Compatible Cell Phones
Many of the cell phones sold today support IMPS from home. Support is known by the following devices:

In addition, there are third-party software for subsequent installation in the form of Symbian and Java ME software.
