Omar Khorshid

Omar Khorshid (Arabic: عمر خورشيد ) ( born 1945 in Cairo, † 29 May 1981) was an Egyptian rock and Popgitarrist.

Khorshid played guitar since his youth. Mid-1960s, he founded the band Le Petit Chats ( with Wagdi Francis, Omar Khairat and Ezzat Abou Aouf ), with whom he played was influenced by the Beatles and Elvis Presley music. The musician Abdel Halim Hafez became aware of him and took him in his orchestra. As an interpreter of compositions Baligh Hamdi Khorshid became famous with this orchestra in Egypt.

It was followed by appearances with singer Oum Kalthoum, concerts, radio and studio recordings. From 1972 to 1977 Khorshid lived in Lebanon, where he published the following labels: Voice Of The Orient and Voice Of Lebanon nine albums of his own and was involved in several films. He also composed 1971-1981 music for more than 40 Egyptian, Lebanese and Syrian films.
