Omi Shrine

The Ōmi - jingū (Japanese近 江 神宫) is a Shinto shrine in the Japanese city of Otsu Cities ( Shiga Prefecture ). It was in 1940 (on the occasion of the 2600th anniversary of the Empire by the legendary Jimmu - tennō ) and was one of the Chokusaisha.

The top of the Kami Ōmi - jingū is the Tenji - tennō, the capital of Japan in the year 667 of Asuka- kyō (now Asuka ) (now Otsu Cities ) to Ōmi - kyō moved.

The annual festival (例 祭, Reisai ) of the shrine will take place on April 20. On June 10, the invention of the water clock is thought by the Tenji - tennō with the time Memorial Day (時の記念日, Toki -no- kinembi ).

On the 20 acres of grounds of the shrine, there is also a clock museum, where in addition to about 3000 other exhibits is a custom built from Tenji - tennō Wasseruhrmodell, allegedly the oldest clock in Japan.
