Onaman Lake

The Onaman Lake is a lake in Thunder Bay District in the Canadian province of Ontario.

The Onaman Lake is located 50 km east of the Nipigonsee. It is drained on the north bank of the River Onaman that flow to the Nipigonsee. The Ontario Highway 11 runs about 30 km south. The settlement Nakina is located 50 km north-east of Lake Onaman.

The lake lies within the Canadian Shield at an altitude of 325 m. It has a longitudinal extension in the southwest-northeast direction of 25 km. The maximum width is 7.5 km. The lake is 113 km ².

The Onaman Lake is a so-called fly- in lake. Fishing in the lake, tourists can catch walleye and pike.

The name of the lake comes from the Ojibwe word Onaman from which vermilion or " red clay " means.
