Onda, Castellón

Onda is a city in the province of Castellón in the Spanish autonomous autonomous region of Valencia. It is located about 20 kilometers west of the provincial capital of Castellon de la Plana Plana in the district of Baja (about half way along the road between Castellón and Segorbe ) and counted on 1 January 2013 25,572 predominantly valencianischsprachige inhabitants.

The town of Onda was built around the ruins of an old fort around and is an architectural numerous Arab and Moorish traces on, such as the Moorish Quarter of Almodí. Last Moorish lord of the castle Onda was the Emir Ibn Zayyan Mardanisch before he took possession of Valencia in 1229 years. As of 1233, the region fell to Aragon, in 1238 and Valencia. Historically noteworthy are in Onda but mainly originating from the 13th century Romanesque Church of the Holy Blood (Iglesia de la Sangre ) and dating from the 18th century Baroque Church of the Assumption of Mary ( Iglesia de la Asunción ).

Onda is a center of azulejos production.
