Back in 2001, King Records offered the Five a major contract to. In December 2001, followed by the single " Tsuki ni Murakumo Hana ni Kaze " ( The clouds in front of the moon, the wind in the flowers), the major release debut, followed by the first major album " Koujin Rasetsu " ( The noble thoughts the evil spirit ). Also, the step to the west has been addressed early: Onmyōza were represented as the only Japanese band on the Iron Maiden and Judas Priest on the tribute album. On the EP " Fuin Kairan " ( Sealed circulation) mainly songs from the indie - time were published that were previously not found on any album. In addition, numerous other single, album, DVD, VHS tape releases and score - books appeared.

Onmyōza were so far the only band that ever were allowed to give a concert in the Noh playing Hall, which is a stage for only traditional Japanese stage plays; they have contributed for the anime " Kouga Ninpouchou Basilisk " the opening credits, which ( The Ninja Art of the Kouga clan ) can be found on the single " Kouga Ninpouchou " and brought the album on 22 June 2005 " Garyou Tensei " ( The eye out of the imperialists ).

2009, adopted Torah drummer from the band as an official member and will henceforth serve as a support drummer. But not anymore with artist name Torah, but his real name is Atsushi Kawatsuka.

Members

Onmyōza in the spring of 1999 by bassist and singer Matatabi ( Kanji: Firebolt, reading: Silver Thistle), vocalist Kuroneko ( Black Cat ) and the two guitarists Maneki ( Kanji: necromancer, reading: Welcome Cat) and Karukan ( Kanji: Raiders of the disaster, reading: cat food brand ) was founded. A little later the drummer came Torah (Kanji Sake Drinker, reading: Tiger) to do so.

Except Matatabi, Kuroneko and Tora none of the other band members brought any experience in the music business with them. Before Onmyōza Matatabi and Kuroneko were together in the band " Kusou Kagaku Byounin ~ Kami Kami Memo to ~", which translates as "notepad of patients in the science of daydreams " means. In addition, Kuroneko was in front of the designed almost exclusively to choral chants Lorelei group member. Torah was most active as a support drummer in unknown Visual - kei indie bands. In 2009 he left the band for personal reasons and supported this initially under his birth name Atsushi Kawatsuka as Suppport drummer, but has since been replaced by Tomotaka Ishikawa. Masahiro Abe plays at least since the beginning of 2004 for Onmyōza keyboard.

Style

Onmyo means "shadow and light ", za is the position that one occupies - in ancient China, it was assumed that everything is shared on the world in shadow and light, just the principle of Yin and Yang, which also celebrate Onmyōza.

As the band says about himself, including both the texts, as well as the appearance of the band in general a strong cultural bond to ancient Japan and China, and their wisdom.

The stylistic image of old Japan to Heian period (794-1185) is represented by wearing the typical for that time, traditional costumes.

Live

In full accordance with the concept of the band, namely the opposition to Onmyōza present on stage with male and female vocalists. In live concerts, dances additionally underline Kuronekos the atmosphere of the songs.

Maneki, one of two lead guitarists, alongside his work as a guitarist and a backing vocalist, the Kuroneko and Matatabi support vocally. He designed illustration for official band goodies.

Texts

The concept of Duality among other things "New Horizons and stability"; "Darkness (shadow ) and light "; " Fortitude and resilience " is placed above all in the lyrics strongly expressed. Since all the lyrics of the band are held exclusively in Japanese language and writing, and they often use from the Old Japanese native words and sometimes even Chinese Kanji, it is possible that not even always understand Japanese all the songs.

Music

The musical scale of the band ranges from pop (especially their newer songs ), to ballads to heavy metal songs.
