Onogawa Kisaburō

Onogawa Kisaburo, Japanese小野 川 喜 三郎, actually: Kawamura Kisaburo (川村 喜 三郎; * 1758 in Shiga Prefecture, † April 30, 1806 ) was a Japanese sumo wrestler of the late Edo period. He is one of the two earliest historically documented Yokozuna and is still known officially as the fifth holder of this rank.

How Tanikaze Onogawa was appointed in November 1789 Yokozuna. Like him, he fought previously as sekiwake and was led to his appointment to the stars ( Banzuke ) as ozeki. He was 1.78 m tall and 135 kg in weight. In his career he scored a total of seven tournament victories.

After the abdication Onogawas in October 1797, was for 30 years no longer yokozuna, although it would have been with Raiden Tameemon a suitable candidate whose nomination but failed due to political rivalries.
