Onsernone

Onsernone is a municipality in the district of Onsernone, in the district of Locarno in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland.

Geography

Onsernone located in the upper part of the valley of the same name (Valle Onsernone ). Villages in the municipality are Russo, Crana, " Vocaglia ", " Corbella " Comologno, " Cappellino " and " Spruga ".

Neighboring municipalities are Cento Valli, Gresso, Isorno, Maggia, Mosogno and Vergeletto and the Italian municipalities Craveggia ( IT VB) and Re ( IT VB).

History

The municipality was created on 1 January 1995 from the merger of the previously independent municipalities Comologno, Crana and Russo. In June 2010, another merger project which aims to merge the communities Gresso, Mosogno, Vergeletto and Isorno with Onsernone ran.
