Oostkapelle

Oostkapelle is a village in the municipality of Veere on the peninsula Walcheren in the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands. On 1 January 2008 2,510 residents have been identified, it is therefore one of the larger towns of the municipality. The village consists of a small built-up center and still many old farms. In the north of Oostkapelle is a large residential area with holiday cottages, camp sites and hotels. The territory is geographically about twice as large as the original place.

The most significant attraction is the Protestant parish church with its monumental tower of the 14th century, which can be climbed in the summer months.

Oostkapelle owes its name to a chapel, which must have been in earlier times here, together with another chapel, which was probably where the present-day West Chapel is located.

After the Second World War, Oostkapelle developed just like Domburg and Zoutelande to a seaside resort.
