Opatov (Svitavy District)

Opatov v CECHACH ( German: Attersee in Zwittau ) is a town with 1100 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It lies on the upper reaches of the Třebovka and belongs to Okres Svitavy ( Zwittau ) in the Pardubice region.

History

Herrmann (1245-1260), abbot of the Premonstratensian Leitomischl, obtained from the King Otakar II, the order to found a village in Schönhengstgau and colonize. It was named Opatov ( Attersee ). Though founded in 1248 is assumed. The Church of St. Anthony was first mentioned in 1358. In the Hussite Wars, the population known to Utraquismus. For 1585 a school is detected. As part of the Counter-Reformation Opatov was re-Catholicised 1624. In 1760, it was granted market rights. 1841 a fire destroyed much of the city. 1846 Opatov was at the railway line Prague - connected Vienna - Brno.

In the surrounding ponds the fish are. The largest pond is 5 ha of Hvězda located at the northern end of the village (star pond ) which the Třebovka and from the smaller Nový rybník ( Neuteich ) flowing creek Nový dine. At the southern end of the village between the neighboring Opatovec is the 3 -acre Vidlák, in the Černý Potok and the Mikulečský flowing creek.

Community structure

The municipality of the districts Nový Rybník ( Neuteich ) and Hvězda include (star pond). The former district Královec (Königsberg ) no longer exists. In Nový Rybník there are still a few houses destroyed and the former chapel, now a gallery. In Hvězda there was a small two-story baroque palace, which was destroyed in 1930.
