Open City - hunter and the hunted is a South Korean thriller which had its premiere on 10 January 2008.
The film is a co-production of Sovik Venture Capital DCG Plus and Ssamzie Entertainment, through its subsidiary Samzzi IVision. The international distribution was taken over by CJ Entertainment.
Action
Jo Dae- yeong is a South Korean police officer who is employed in the capital Seoul. The unit gets a new boss: Oh Yeon -su.
Between his new boss Oh and Jo, there are differences, should be how to deal with female lawbreakers. In a flashback, the treatment of Kang Man- ok this is shown. It is also worked out that Kang 's mother Jo, who has not taken care of their children twenty years.

Technology
The movie was filmed with 35 mm widescreen, the aspect ratio is 1.85:1 here ( 16,65:9 ). The sound effects and music were recorded in the Dolby Digital 5.1 audio format.
Publications
In the first four weeks after the premiere of the film saw 1,575,688 moviegoers. The international sales, with the exception of the Netherlands, is organized by the company CJ Entertainment. For the distribution in the Netherlands Splendid Film has jurisdiction.
The German -language film version was from 26 September 2008 at the rental and since 31 October 2008, the German -language DVD to buy.
Criticism
" [ ... ] " Open City " is far from being bad, but he is not much more than noble packaged trash. Even the action is unmotivated, the best example in the beginning when the cops beat up the occupants of a car and this is only fulfilled the purpose of providing a little pizzazz. Later there for brawling still several opportunities to somewhat better integrated into the story, but still forced. Best Keyword for the whole movie: forced. The screenplay crunches, the tricks are too obvious. The director tries too cramped, viewers to wrap around the finger. And fails. Fast. Nevertheless, the supercooled movie was neat in the [ South ] Korean cinema and should therefore be expanded into a series. Fits somehow: As a thriller soap opera, I would imagine the fabric well.
