Objectives

Given a weak economic development, increasing global competition and demographic crisis in Europe, there is an urgent need to find a new model of European cooperation, which is consistent with the economic reality and the preferences of the citizens in line. Open Europe designs the vision of a leaner, outwardly facing EU, which facilitates the internal and global free trade at the same time democratic, transparent, and responsible for their actions for the future development of the EU. Flexible integration provides for the British think tank, another focus of the future development of Europe represents the EU should be flexible enough to allow flow back powers to its Member States and to integrate these in varying degrees in the EU.

Open Europe believes that the EU has reached a critical moment in its development. Globalization, extensions, failed EU referendums and the euro crisis would preclude the performance of " an ever closer union ". However, Europe has the potential to overcome the challenges.

The work of Open Europe is focused on " the principles of a market economy policy [ ... ] establishing itself as a nucleus of a European economic governance ". From the perspective of Open Europe, a European economic governance is to be achieved on market basis, by promoting free trade internally and externally and the over-regulation is contained. Money wastes disclose, stable money and enter a European regulatory policy rather than interventionism are other objectives of Eurosceptic organization. The director of Open Europe Berlin, Michael Wohlgemuth, has also called for an essay together with the German economic experts Lars Feld more direct democracy on the Swiss model in the EU.

Criticism

In a letter to the FAZ, threw Jo Leinen, Chairman of the European Movement International ( EMI), the think tank the right to distribute the Promote an "open Europe " secretly a nationalist and own British view of Europe. This had nothing in common, in which the same rights apply to everyone with the founding idea of the EU as a common judicial area and stand up for each other all the Member States. The opened in fall 2012 Open Europe branch in Berlin will now attempt to give rise to an anti-EU sentiment in the largest country of the EU.
