Operation Yachin

The operation Jachin was an operation of the Mossad to the rescue of Moroccan Jews from November 1961 until the spring of 1964 as a result of the pogroms of Oujda and Jerada.

History

The secret operation was also launched because of the shipping disaster on 10 January 1961 where the ship had sunk egos with 44 Jewish refugees on the north coast of Morocco, as they had tried to leave the country on its own. About 80 000 Jews left Morocco in the aircraft or ship of Casablanca and Tangier via France and Italy to Israel.

The operation was named after the right pillar of the Temple " Jachin ", which means "I (God) will get up! " Or "I will raise! "

Among the rescued as part including former Minister for services of worship Jacob Margi.
