Opiorphin

Opiorphin is an endorphin ( endogenic opioid ), a pentapeptide having the amino acid sequence Gln -Arg -Phe- Ser-Arg.

In experiments with rats it was by a factor of 3-6 higher analgesic activity as compared to morphine. In humans it is found in the saliva. In further animal testing, 2010, the analgesic and antidepressant effects were confirmed, and noted the lack of most opioid side effects ( intestinal paralysis, dose escalation ) and antidepressant side effects ( hyperexcitability, sedation, memory problems ).
