Order of Carol I

The Order of Carol I (Romanian Ordin Carol I) was founded on May 10, 1906, King Carol I of Romania on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his reign in four classes, with the number of Romanian respective owner until 22 February 1938 was limited.

Order of classes

  • Necklace / Collar of (5 owner / after 10)
  • Grand Cross (10 Owner / 20 thereafter )
  • Grand Officer (25 Owner / then without restrictions)
  • Commander (40 Owner / then without restrictions)

As of January 5, 1944, the Order was also awarded to women. Likewise, the Order could be imparted with diamonds, such as of Mehmed V, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire in 1907.

Carrying method

The ribbon is light blue with narrow golden edge strip and in these ever a red line.

Others

The Order of Carol I stayed until the end of the monarchy in Romania on December 30, 1947, the highest medal of the country.

As of 2003, the Order is the highest House Order of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen dynasty Romanian and is again given privately.
