Order of Honour (Russia)

The Order of Honour (Russian Орден Почёта ) is a state award of Russia. The award was instituted on 2 March 1994 by decree No. 442 of the President of the Russian Federation and is regarded as the successor of the decorations of the Soviet Union.

The award is given according to statute to persons who themselves special merits in the economy, research, social and charitable activities in the training of highly qualified personnel or in the training of the young generation, in sport and in the maintenance of law and have acquired order. The Order may also be awarded to foreigners who have rendered special services to the promotion of bilateral relations with Russia.

Description of the Order

The silver enameled medal shows at its center the coat of arms of the Russian Federation, surrounded by a laurel wreath and framed in an octagonal blue cross. On the back is the serial number of the Order. The ribbon is blue with a white stripe.

Of the Order in German-speaking

The award was awarded to Matthias Warnig, the managing director of the German -Russian gas pipeline consortium Nord Stream AG in October 2012.
