Order of Saint Stephen

The St. Stephen Medal, named after Saint Stephen, was a Tuscan Order, which was founded by Grand Duke Cosimo de Medici in memory of the battle won against France. Victory and Foundation Day fell on August 2, 1554th The statutes of the Military Order was subsequently amended by the Grand Duke Ferdinand III. renewed on 22 December 1817.

Order decoration

This highest Tuscan Order had a red enamelled Maltese cross as a decoration. It is surmounted by an open bracket crown and the cross angles lilies are introduced.
