Order of the Star of Romania

The Order of the Star of Romania was founded on 22 May 1877 by Prince Carol I of Romania to reward civil and military merit. On April 29, 1880 was an amendment to the Article 4 of the Articles of Association Foundation, which limited the number of members of each class in the future.

Awards to foreigners were not bound by this rule. To be included in the Order, you had to have served for 18 years with distinction the state or the military.

Order decoration

The religious character consists of a blue- enamelled, gilt-edged cross, golden rays appear in the angles. It hangs on a golden crown. In the center of the cross is one of a green oak wreath surrounded locket, the front of which bears a golden eagle on red enamelled background, which is surrounded by a blue enamel circlet on which in gold letters the motto IN FIDE SALUS ( Faithful salvation ) is. On the back of the medallion bears the signature of the founder CI ( Carol I ). For military merit crossed swords were inserted through the center or between the cross and crown.

The ribbon is red with a blue-red- blue edge stripes.
