Order of the Three Stars

The Three - Star Order ( Triju Zvaigžņu ordenis ) 1924 was donated by the Latvian President Janis Čakste the highest distinction in the country and can to persons for their outstanding contributions to state, municipal, social, cultural, scientific or economic field as well as in education and Sports in five classes and a Badge of Honour will be awarded in three levels ( gold, silver and bronze).

The Order comprises five classes.

  • Grand Cross
  • Grand Officer
  • Commander
  • Officer
  • Knight

In addition to the Grand Cross of the Order can be awarded the highest distinction with Collar of.

Order decoration

The religious character is a white enameled Maltese Cross goldgerändertes with small beads on the cross points. Between the cross angles are small jets. In the round enamelled cobalt blue medallion can be seen three golden stars. The medallion on the back can be the three-line inscription with the date of the Declaration of Independence LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA 1918. G. 18 NOVEMBRIS (Latvian Republic November 18, 1918 ). The surrounding gold hoop contains the inscription PER ASPERA AD ASTRA.

The diameter of the order of 40 mm for knights and officers, commanders and 49 mm for Grand Officers, 54 mm for large crosses.

Carrying method

The Grand Cross is worn on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip as well as with a zehnstrahligen breast star. Great officers and commanders wear a neck medal. Grand Officers additionally has a simple breast star which represents the religious character. Officers and knights decorate the religious character at the band on the left chest.
