Order of Theresa

The Theresa Order was gain on December 12, 1827 by Therese of Bavaria, wife of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, founded as a female, and of should unvermögende, noble, but christian and born out of wedlock ladies who had remained unmarried, a pension and thus allow a befitting life.

Recording conditions

Originally only twelve ladies should find admission into the Order, later this number was increased to eighteen. Order decoration

The religious character consists of a gold- bordered, blue enameled cross of St. John with wide white border, over which the golden royal crown is. Carrying method

The Order was worn usually on a ladies bow on the left upper chest. Exception to this were wearing gala at the royal court. The ribbon is white with two sky blue stripes on the edge of which the inner is narrower than the outer.
