Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry

Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry, abbreviated Org Biomol. Chem, is a weekly journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry. The first edition appeared in 2003. Published articles cover the areas of Organic Synthesis, Physical-Organic Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry and Chemical Biology.

The Impact Factor is 3.568 (as of 2012). In statistics, the Science Citation Index, the magazine is in the category " Organic Chemistry " Rank 12 out of 57 journals.

Editor in chief is Richard Kelly of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Cambridge, Chairman of the Editorial Board is Jeffrey Bode of the ETH Zurich.

Of all the articles are abstracts on the Web free of charge, full-text PDF files, however, are chargeable. The contents of Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry go also into the more medically oriented database MEDLINE.

Publication History

Previous journal was the Journal of the Chemical Society, in 1965 split into four separate titles. The title of the successor journal, which eventually emerged Chemical Communications, has since been amended several times, split and recombined:

  • Journal of the Chemical Society C: Organic (1966-1971)
  • Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 1 (1972-2002)
  • Journal of the Chemical Society, Perkin Transactions 2 (1972-2002)
  • Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry ( since 2003)
