Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle

The African Intellectual Property Organization (Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectual, OAPI, WIPO code OA ) was established by the Convention of Libreville first as African - Malagasy Industrial Property Organization ( OAMPI ) in 1962, by the Convention of Bangui in 1977, this was revised on 24 February 1999, replaced. The organization comprised largely of the former Francophone Africa, while for the English-speaking Africa, another international organization, the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization exists. The Patent Office of the Organization shall provide regional patents for its Member States. It is part of the international treaty systems, so that international applications ( Patent Cooperation Treaty, PCT) are possible. The Central Authority is located in Yaounde, Cameroon (address: BP 887 ). The former member of Madagascar has left the organization early again.
