Orient Overseas Container Line

The Orient Overseas Container Line ( OOCL ) is a shipping company Orient Overseas International Ltd.. ( OOIL ) from Hong Kong, People's Republic of China. The listed company ( SEHK: 0316 ) was established in 1947 in Shanghai by CY Founded Tung and among the world's largest shipping companies. OOCL offers a global container transportation including various logistics services.

Today, OOCL is one of the world's largest shipping and logistics company with more than 280 offices in 58 countries around the world. There are approximately 4.6 million TEUs moved annually.

OOCL offers 78 liner services with a fleet of over 270 vessels serving the international market in the northern hemisphere, including the Grand Alliance members ships, feeder, OOCL -owned and self-managed ships. This includes ships of various classes with a capacity 2500-8063 TEU, plus ice - class vessels for extreme weather conditions.

History

OOCL was founded in 1947 by CY Tung as " Orient Overseas Line". With the advent of containerisation it was 1969, the " Orient Overseas Container Line " At OOCL was the first Asian shipping company, the containerized cargo transported across the Pacific, and thus the face of trade in the Asia -Pacific region had a substantial impact. CY Tung dreamed early on of the establishment of the first Chinese merchant fleet. 1947, fulfilled his dream as the first time a ship of its fleet, the Atlantic coast of North America and Europe reached, led by a Chinese pure Crew. Ships

Since 1989, the name of the OOCL - owned or - operated vessels consist of the prefix " OOCL " together and another name.

In the years 2003-2007, the shipping with the twelve ships of the OOCL SX class by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries their biggest units in service.
