Orkus

Orcus ( Orcus own spelling! ) Is an alternative music and culture magazine in German language. It is published monthly in the publishing Zoomia Media Group. Orcus gives its name to the annual Amphi Festival, which is hosted by an external company.

Unlike the subtitle " Gothic - Romantic - Industrial - Electro " suggests, especially genres like Metal, medieval rock, New German hardness, alternative rock, electro, J-Rock and Pop Future are covered. The divisions Gothic Rock, Darkwave and Industrial use since the late 1990s, only a minor one place.

History

The magazine was founded in 1995 by Claus Mueller and appeared free in A5 format. The main focus was initially on wave, gothic, electro and industrial. With the third edition in May 1996, the magazine was published free of charge and in A4 format. Since 1997, the divisions gothic and wave were largely replaced by foreign musical genres, the main focus has shifted increasingly to the metal environment. But also other directions, such as Goa Trance, IDM, Ambient, Drum and bass and techno, the magazine did not close.

Content

In addition to interviews, concert reviews, short portraits and reviews (especially from the Death, Dark and black metal environment ) there are also music distant subjects, such as illustrated reports on cemeteries and their backgrounds (idea by Michael Gareis - Lahde ), series about mysticism in " everyday life" ( vampire mythology, dreams, etc.) and columns of musicians ( Oswald Henke, Alexander Kaschte ) and pages of poems from readers.

The enclosed CD includes new songs and remixes of the bands featured in the magazine are published.
