Orla Railway

The railway line Orlamünde Oppurg (also: Orlabahn ) is a branch line in Thuringia. It branches off into Orlamünde of the hall car and takes you to the valley of Orla after Pössneck. Until 1946 there was still an extension after Oppurg on the railway Leipzig- Probstzella.

History

The 11.7 km long route that branches off in Orlamünde of the hall track south of Jena and is now run only up to the lower station of Pössneck, was opened up to this station on 1 October 1889.

The second stretch was followed by the connection of Pössneck unt Bf until after Oppurg, which was opened in 1892 and 1946 already set again. That part of the track was dismantled after the war as war reparations to the Soviet Union.

The current remaining distance was undergoing extensive renovations in 1999/2000. In the following years, the hour was introduced on this route, since the timetable change in 2001, the trains are bound to Jena Hall Station.
