The Orlando Stadium is a stadium in the South African city of Johannesburg in the suburb of Soweto. It can accommodate 40,000 spectators and serves the club Orlando Pirates as homestead.

The Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, the largest city in South Africa, was built in 1959 and opened on 22 May of the same year. The stadium is located in Soweto, a poor neighborhood on the outskirts of Johannesburg. Right next to the largest football stadium in Africa, the sport temple is located on Soccer City. In Orlando Stadium, the club Orlando Pirates wearing since the inauguration of the stadium in 1959 from its home games. The club was founded in 1937, today three times football champion of South Africa and twice won the national cup. The greatest international success of the Orlando Pirates is the victory in the CAF Champions League in 1995.

The Orlando Stadium in Soweto can accommodate 40,000 spectators nowadays. When it was opened in 1959, where 24,000 people took place. Over the years, the capacity of the stadium in the meantime even rose to almost 60,000 seats. After a renovation in 2008, the capacity dropped to the currently valid 40,000 seats. During the Football World Cup 2010, South Africa hosted the first African country over his head, the Orlando Stadium served as a training ground for various national teams.
