The branchy broomrape ( Orobanche ramosa ) is a species of the genus summer Wurzen ( Orobanche ) in the family of broomrape family ( Orobanchaceae ). Some authors it is provided as hemp Blue Strangler ( Phelipanche ramosa ) in the outsourced from Orobanche genus Phelipanche.

Description

The branchy broomrape is a 3 to 40 cm tall, parasitic plant which grows mainly on hemp ( cannabis), tobacco ( Nicotiana ) and nightshade (Solanum ) parasitized. The plant branches basally, mostly underground.

The crown is pale yellow at the base, to the hem towards light blue or purple. Is tetradentate, kurzglockig formed and 10 to 12 mm long. The scar is whitish. Flowering time is July and August.

Occurrence

The branchy broomrape probably comes from America, but also in Europe, Asia, and northern Africa. Previously, she grew up in Germany and Austria in tobacco and hemp cultures and taught partly major damage to. Today in Germany there are only a few occurrences, in Austria it became extinct with the exception of Carinthia.
