Orodes I of Parthia

Orodes I was a Parthian king of the Arsacid dynasty, who ruled from 76 BC to about 80 BC. Little is handed down from this period of Parthian history so that the circumstances of his government are hardly known. He is mainly known from coins. He could be the son of Mithridates II. From cuneiform texts is possibly his sister and wife Ispubarza known.

Alternative chronologies put on for his reign 90-80 BC and suspect a stranger followed him on the throne until Sinatrukes by 76 BC, took the throne and ended the Time of Troubles.

In a report on the solar eclipse on April 11, 80 BC, he is mentioned as the reigning "King of Kings ".
