Orrest Head

Seen Orrest Head of Windermere from

Despite his less than outstanding properties in height or geographical specialties, he is a popular destination because it is the first mountain, the author Alfred Wainwright climbed on his first trip to the Lake District.

Its summit is easy to reach within an hour's drive from Windermere train station and offers a good view of the Old Man of Coniston, Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Fairfield and the Langdale Pikes, some of the highest mountains of the Lake District.
