Ortobene

The Monte Ortobene is a granite mountain in the east of Nuoro in Sardinia, seven kilometers from the provincial capital of Nuoro. A road winds than trail around the mountain.
Between maquis with pine, oak and cypress are in the vicinity of two sources, picnic areas.
The marked path no. 8 crosses the road to Cuccuru Nieddu, the 955 m highest point of the Ortobene. The observation deck is dominated since 1901 by the created by the sculptor Vincenzo Jerace, seven -meter-high bronze statue of the Redentore ( Redeemer ). The end of August, during the Sagra del Redentore, the Redeemer festival, a procession, one of the most colorful of the island, from the city to the mountain.
