Oscar Walter Cisek

Oscar Walter Cisek (December 6, 1897 in Bucharest, † May 30, 1966 ibid ) was German- romania German writer and diplomat. He wrote stories, novels, poems and essays.

Life

After the German Evangelical School in Bucharest visit Cisek studied in Munich German studies and art history. From 1923 he worked in Bucharest as an art critic for Romanian magazines. He was from 1930 in the diplomatic service of the Romanian monarchy and until 1940 as a press or Cultural Council in Vienna, Prague, Berlin and 1946/47, as Consul General in Bern.

After the fall of the monarchy, he went to jail, was rehabilitated and was living as a writer in Bucharest. Shortly before his death, he was awarded the Ion Creanga Prize of the Romanian Academy. He was a corresponding member of the German Academy of Arts in Berlin / GDR.
