Oshere

Oshere (also Oosheræ, Osherus or Oserus; † 700 ) was an Anglo-Saxon king of Hwicce.

Life

Oshere followed as King Osric on its predecessor and called 680 already in a document rex (king). In the year 693, leaving Oshere " for the salvation of his soul " Cuthswith, the abbess of Penintanham (probably Inkberrow, Worcs. ) Country. In later documents he was described as comes ( follower ) and subregulus ( viceroy ) Æthelred of Mercia. He died before 716

Æthelheard, Æthelric and Æthelweard are expressly stated as Osheres sons. Probably Aethelberht and Æthelmunt were ( Æthelmod ) his sons.
