The dashed mogul screw ( Monodonta lineata ) is a meeresbewohnende snail from the family of centrifugal screw.

Appearance

The dashed hump screw has a strong, tapered housing having up to six somewhat domed curves. The outside is dark gray with deep purple pattern, the navel is almost completely obscured. The screw has a blunt edge, the tooth is called on the inner lip of the mouth. The inside of three inches high worm iridescent nacreous.

Way of life

This hump screw is to be confused at first glance with the beach snail ( Littorina littorea ). It feeds on diatoms which it grazes the ground. The dashed mogul screw is not a good climber, so they do not cling to steep cliffs, but preferably gently sloping shores.

Home

This snail lives in the Atlantic and the English Channel, more rarely they are also found in the North Sea. In the middle and lower intertidal zone they lived on protected hard floors.
