Osman Lins

Osman Lins ( born July 5, 1924 in Vitória de Santo Antão, Pernambuco, † July 8, 1978 in São Paulo) was a Brazilian writer. He wrote avant-garde, enigmatic novels and short stories, which are influenced by the Nouveau Roman, and plays.

Osman Lins completed a business degree at the University of Recife and then worked until 1970 in a bank in São Paolo. His first novel 0 Visitante he published in 1955 and was awarded two prizes instantly. In this first creative period he published in 1957 yet the stories Os Gestos and 1961 the novel O Fiel ea Pedra (1981 filmed as a telenovela in 30 episodes).

He then undertook a long trip to Europe and returned elected as a residence, the city of São Paulo, in his second creative period with works such as Nove, Novena, A Rainha dos and Avalovara carceres because Grécia began. La Paz Existe? he wrote together with his partner, the writer Julieta de Godoy Ladeira. In this book a trip from Peru to Bolivia is described.

Osman Lins also worked as a literature teacher in São Paulo. He has won several literary awards, including the Coelho Neto Prize.
