Osmay Acosta

Osmay Acosta Duarte (born 3 April 1985) is a Cuban boxer. He won at the Pan American Games in 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, the Pan-American Championships in 2007, a bronze medal at the 2008 Olympics and the silver medal at the World Championships in 2009.

Career

Osmay Acosta was discovered in young age for boxing and now belongs to the Cuban power center of the amateur boxer in Havana. Aged 20, he starts first time in 2005 at the Cuban Championship of seniors in the light heavyweight division, but already retired on the first lap with one defeat against the experienced Yunier Dorticos from. In 2006 he was employed at the Central American and Caribbean Championships and was there with a points victory for victory over Julio Payares from Venezuela ( 13:9 ) tournament winner in the heavyweight division.

2010 Acosta was last Cuban masters and subsequently lost in an international tournament in Debrecen against Yegor Mechonzew, Russia ( 7:2 ), and in Yambol against Sergey Kalchugin, Russia ( 4:2 ). During the year, he lost at the national level twice against Leinier Perot and once against Erislandy Savón. After this accumulation of defeats Acosta retired from active sports.
