Osnabrück Canal

The branch canal Osnabrück ( SKO ), and occasionally branch channel Osnabrück, is a 14.5 km long artificial waterway that connects the Mittelland canal with the port in the same district of Osnabrück. It was built between 1910 and 1915 and is substantially parallel to the non- navigable hare, the largest distance is about 1 km.

Course

The branch canal begins in Bramsche - Pente at 30.39 km channel of the Mittelland Canal with an attitude height of 50.3 m above sea level. NN and initially heads south. After about 2.5 km, it crosses the border to the municipality Wall Horst; there is a marina. At km 7.2 follows the Hollager lock, where the channel level to 55.05 m above sea level. NN is raised.

In the south-east of the branch canal continues to the area of Osnabrück, where shortly after a short trip leads to the south, which may be used only with permission. There are the boathouses of the Osnabrück water sports clubs.

Subsequently, the harbor area starts at the port district: First, the Piesberger harbor, which served the transportation of products from the nearby quarry in Piesberg earlier, followed by the oil port over which the city is supplied with mineral oils.
