Osric Chau

Osric Chau (Chinese周逸 之, Pinyin Zhou Yizhi, born 20 July 1986) is an actor from Vancouver, British Columbia. Chau can look back on several years of experience in Martial Arts Wushu and Wing Chun. He was fighting on national tournaments and transmits these experiences to his acting. Osric incessantly focuses on the development and refinement of his acting skills and is not least due to his skills in the martial arts a sought-after actor in the film industry.

Supporting roles in Cold Squad and a lead role in a Global TV docudrama, Osric has already played alongside the late David Carradine and Daryl Hannah as a long- Han Kung Fu Killer by Phillip Spink. He also played a role in the Nickelodeon series The Troop and turned stunt scenes for the famous game developer Electronic Arts. Osric had his first appearance in Roland Emmerich's blockbuster movie of 2012.

Martial Arts

In 2000, Osric Chau got his first martial arts class. He attended a Wing Chun school and studied the basic theories and applications of self-defense. This study, he deepened in subsequent years until today. As winners of the national competitions in 2001 already showed his extraordinary talent and he worked as a youth coach soon.

In the summer of 2001, he discovered another martial art, Wushu. He trained under Zhang Zhi Bing, a masterpiece from Harbin, China. From him he learned the slow but powerful art of Tai Chi as well as more traditional forms of Wushu. After four years, Sifu Zhang returned to China and Osric Chau enrolled at the martial arts school West Coast Chinese Martial Arts in Vancouver under head coach Bruce Fontaine one. There, he learned and honed his knowledge and skills in modern Wushu, a martial arts form which has rather presenter character because is application-oriented. Osric Chau developed his natural talent for all forms of acrobatic activity, and received an award for outstanding technical achievements within his martial arts school in the spring of 2006. Soon, he also held various training groups as a trainer and instructor.

In 2007, as part of the preparations for the Canadian team competitions, he went for seven months to China and trained with some of his teammates at the prestigious Beijing Sports University in conjunction with the BSU Wushu Team. This intense preparation paid off as he could be placed in the national competitions in Montreal in the top 10 of the participants.
