Ossidinge was a government station and seat of the homonymous administrative district in the German colony of Cameroon.

Location

The ( original ) station Ossidinge (I ) was located about 200 m from the Cross the river on a low ridge of the terraced banks of the terrain between the villages Ekoi Agborkum and Oban.

History

As part of the licensing of the Company Northwest Cameroon ( GNK ) and the transfer of ownership of large areas in the West of Cameroon to the same by the colonial administration, the station manager of the Government Station Rio del Rey, lieutenant of Queis, was entrusted with the establishment of an advanced station in the area of ​​Cross River. Queis came here in combat with the Ekoi killed. The government led a punitive expedition under the leadership of Captain von Besser, who began the construction of a station in Nssakpe from July 1900, which was laid on 17 July 1901 by Hans Glauning Ossidinge. In November 15, 1902, she was transferred to the civil administration, the management took over Kurt Graf Pueckler Limpurg.

In January 1904 broke after riots by European and colored merchants, under the Anyang north of the station -based heavy riots, killed Count Pueckler in the course and the station was completely destroyed Ossidinge ( Anyang Uprising ). With a massive military build the collection was put down, the station then rebuilt. Even in 1908 it consisted exclusively using makeshift shacks and huts.

Since 1904 there have been for hygienic reasons and strategic consideration for transfer of the station. In 1909 she was pushed forward after the 30 km upriver Mamfe, to which the name Ossidinge (II ) was transferred. On April 1, 1909, the former government station was raised to the district office.
