Ossun

Ossun is a commune in the Hautes -Pyrénées, in the Midi -Pyrenees. It is located in Tarbes district and capital of the canton Ossun.

Ossun has 2319 ​​inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) to 27.59 square kilometers and is located about 9.5 kilometers southwest of Tarbes in the Bigorre. The station of the municipality lies on the railway line Toulouse- Bayonne. The international airport Lourdes-Tarbes is an essential part in the municipal area.

In the municipality the rivers Gaba and Souy.

Ossun is one of the places where the brothers and sisters has settled the communities of Jerusalem because of the proximity to Lourdes itself.

History

A prehistoric necropolis located in the municipal area. Numerous tumuli were destroyed in 1964.
