Otakar Ostrčil

Otakar Ostrčil ( born February 25, 1879 in Prague; † August 20, 1935 in Prague) was a Czech composer and conductor.

Life

Ostrčil was a student of Zdeněk Fibich. In 1901 he became professor of languages ​​at the Business Academy in Prague. From 1914 to 1918 he was chief of the Municipal Theatre Opera in Prague's Royal Vinohrady and from 1920 to 1935 and Chief Conductor of the Prague National Theatre.

Work

Ostrčils music was influenced first by the Czech Romanticism (especially by his teacher Fibich ).
