Otto Kanturek

Kanturek Otto ( born July 27, 1897 in Vienna, † 26 June 1941 in Cawston, Norfolk ) was an Austrian cinematographer and film director.

Life

Kanturek underwent training at the Graphic Arts Research Institute in Vienna. After a traineeship at the Gaumont newsreel he arrived in 1912 as an assistant cameraman to film. In 1913 he followed a call to producer Erich Pommer to Paris. There he filmed for newsreels of the company Pathé, Gaumont and Éclair.

In 1914 he went to Milano movie to Milan in 1915 to Sascha film to Vienna and Alexander Korda in Budapest. In 1916 he was drafted and was in special photographic services. During the war he made ​​his debut as director of photography.
