Otto Leodolter

Leodolter Otto ( born March 18, 1936 in Mariazell ) is a former Austrian ski jumper.

Career

His international debut Leodolter at the Four Hills Tournament 1954/55 with a 33rd place in Innsbruck. Shortly afterwards, he finished tenth in Bischofshofen. In the Four Hills Tournament 1955/56, he started with the seats 31 in Oberstdorf and rank 19 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen, before ending the tour in eighth place overall after a 15th place in Innsbruck. He reached the qualification for the Olympic Winter Games 1956 in Cortina d' Ampezzo. Jumping from the normal hill ended the 19 -year-old points with Poland Józef Huczek on the 30th place.

In the Four Hills Tournament 1957/58 he was able to increase again and reached good results at the end of sixth place overall. This placement he reached a year later at the Four Hills Tournament 1958/59. A year later, at the Four Hills Tournament 1959/60 he was in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen in second place on the podium twice and finished third overall. A few weeks later Leodolter achieved by winning the bronze medal at the 1960 Olympic Winter Games in Squaw Valley in jumping on the normal hill on 18 February 1960. He was the first medal winner at the Olympic Winter Games for Austria in this discipline.

In December 1960 he started with a third place in Oberstdorf in the Four Hills Tournament 1960/61. In Garmisch He missed the podium in fourth just barely, but once again achieved a place among the top three in Innsbruck and Bischofshofen. In the end he was in the overall standings in second place behind the German Helmut Recknagel. It was his most successful tour in which he was not able in the sequence. His last tour, he played in the season 1963/64.

In his third Olympics, the Winter Games in 1964 in Innsbruck, he missed out on 28 of the normal and 17 as on the large hill to repeat his success from 1960 clearly. It was also the last international competitions in his career.

Leodolters son Otto Leodolter junior 2012 was director of the country Skiing Association of Upper Austria.
