Action

The Roman Emperor Ottone is in love with Cleonilla. But Cleonilla can not resist flirting with the two familiar young men Ostilio and Caio.

Ostilio is in fact a woman named Tullia. Tullia veils herself because she loves Caio. Because of their jealousy Tullia Cleonilla plans to kill. But first she tried to dissuade Cleonilla of their relationship with Caio. Caio sees this meeting and misinterprets this as a romantic encounter. He warns Ottone, who then orders him Ostilio (ie Tullia ) to kill.

But before he can run this command to Ostilio are recognizable as Tullia. In its true form it now insured Cleonillas innocence. All are amazed and Ottone quickly finds his composure. Ottone announced his desire to marry Tullia and Caio and he asks Cleonilla forgiveness. The opera ends in rejoicing on all sides.
