Ottone Rosai

Ottone Rosai ( born April 28, 1895 in Florence, † May 13 1957 in Ivrea ) was an Italian painter of the futurism and Novecento.

Life

Rosai first completed a three-year Malausbildung at the Istituto delle Arti Decorative in Santa Croce and occupied from 1909 courses at the Florence Academy of Art. Through his friendship with Giovanni Papini, and Aldo Palazzeschi it comes into contact with Marinetti receiving soon in the circle of the Futurists. From 1914 published Rosai numerous drawings in the cultural magazine Lacerba. After the war, he turns away from the futuristic style of painting from, and the Novecento. by the way he is involved in the Fasci di combattimento fiorentino. In 1920 he had his first solo exhibition, which should follow. In 1942, he received the Department of Painting at the Academy in Florence. In the large retrospective of his life's work in Ivrea, he suffers a heart attack, he died soon afterwards.
