Oughterard

The town is located 26 km north-west of Galway City in the Connemara region on the national road N59. In the vicinity is the western shore of Lough Corrib, the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland; therefore Oughterard is a popular spot for anglers. In Census 2006, Oughterard 1305 inhabitants ( according to 1209 Census at 2002); for the urban area, the number amounted in 2006 to 2557 people ( according to 2380 Census at 2002).

Except in and around Cong some scenes for the film "The Quiet Man" by John Ford in 1952 also near Oughterard rotated.
