Ousmane Issoufi Maïga

Ousmane Maiga Issoufi (* 1945 near Gao ) was until September 2007 Prime Minister of Mali. He was appointed on 29 April 2004 as prime minister, having held several ministerial positions in previous governments.

Issoufi studied economics at the University of Kiev and then at the American University in Washington, DC, where he earned a degree in Banking and Insurance teaching. He worked for the World Bank and the French Ministry of Finance.

He was Minister of Youth and Sports in Mali in 2002 and organized this year taking place there African Cup of Nations.

After the election of President Amadou Toumani Touré of Mali, he was on 14 June 2002 a member of the government of Prime Minister Ahmed Mohamed ag Hamani. After the Cabinet reshuffle on 16 October of the same year he became Minister of Transport and Infrastructure.
