Oviedo is a city in Seminole County in the U.S. state of Florida with 33 342 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Oviedo is bordered to the west by the city of Winter Springs. The town is located about 10 km south of Sanford and 25 km northeast of Orlando.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 33 342 inhabitants distributed to 11,720 households. The population density was 846.2 inh. / Km ². 81.9 % of the population were white, 0.6 % African American, 0.2% Native American and 3.8 % Asian Americans. 2.8% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.8% in different ethnic groups. 16.3% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 15.6 % of all households lived in 46.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 80.3 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.99 and the average family size is 3.28 people.

31.4 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.1% were 20-39 years old, 32.1% were 40-59 years old and 11.3 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 35 years. 49.2 % of the population were male and 50.8 % female.

The average annual income was $ 83,742, while 6.7% of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 84.80 % of the population spoke Spanish 12.01 % and 3.19% had a different mother tongue.

Traffic

The city is from the Florida State Roads 417 (Central Florida Greeneway, toll road), crosses 426 and 434. The nearest airport is Orlando Sanford International Airport ( about 15 km north).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 169 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the low range. There were three murders, eight rapes, nine robberies, 58 injuries, 106 burglaries, 438 thefts, 20 auto thefts and two arsons.
