Owen Marshall is a widowed lawyer who lives in Santa Barbara, California with his twelve year old daughter Melissa. With the help of his assistants and the secretary Frieda Krause Marshall defended his clients in various areas of law. Marshall takes over traffic offenses as well as divorce or murder cases.

Background

The pilot episode of the series was filmed in feature-length film. The screenwriter Jerry McNeely was a professor of law at the University of Wisconsin. 1971 and 1974, two episodes have been made that make a crossover with the series Marcus Welby, MD. As guest stars included performances by Rick Nelson and Peggy Lee. John Travolta, Mark Hamill, Farrah Fawcett, Tom Selleck and Louis Gossett Jr. played at the beginning of her career minor roles in the series.
