History

Owner of a Lonely Heart was released on November 5, 1983 worldwide. It was a number -one hit in the United States and a top 20 hit in many countries such as Germany.

The song is 3:50 minutes long and on the B - side is the song Our Song. The version on the album 90125 lasts 4:27 minutes.

In 1991, the band said in an interview that originally a ballad was planned, but due to the very fast guitar reefs they decided to use them to create a " rock number ".

Music Video

The music video was directed by Storm Thorgerson. On MTV, the clip was often sent. At the beginning of the video a bird flying over a park, in the next shot people walking in a city along a street, one of which is arrested by two officers in plain clothes. This put him in a courthouse. You go up some stairs, through a hallway, and get into a waiting room. From there it goes through an office, sitting in desks and work on their typewriters. While the government officials lead him through the building, he experiences constantly short hallucinations in which threaten him different animals. Finally, they come into the courtroom. At the direction of the chairman but he is thrown out of the courtroom, and comes with an elevator alone in the basement. After a fight with a muscular heavy worker, he flees, and climbs a ladder marked clearly on the roof of the skyscraper. He is considered by some men - the musicians of Yes - surrounded that appear out of nowhere, and have been transformed from their animal form back to people. Then he jumps off the roof and again the bird flies over the city. In the end, the man witnessed the opening sequence of the video as déjà vu, and returns in the direction from which he came.
